Job Description

As an Enterprise Information Management Data Architect, you are a key member of PNC's Enterprise Information Management organization. You should have demonstrated expertise and experience in advanced large database design and functionality in areas such as performance, scalability, security and reliability.

Your responsibilities will include



  • Design large databases capable of supporting enterprise data integration, enterprise data provisioning, and data distribution while ensuring system and data scalability, security, performance and reliability.
  • Design large databases, database interfaces and data transfer mechanisms to enable efficient access of enterprise database-resident information.
  • Develop data models for enterprise data and metadata supporting a variety of enterprise data sourcing, integration and consumption needs.
  • Develop strategies and designs to optimize the performance of data loading, updating and consumption while minimizing downtime requirements for backup and maintenance processes.
  • Develop and document database architectures.
  • Foster adoption of advanced database architectures, designs, and designs.
  • Develop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address PNC business requirements.
  • Collaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand the business specific needs of PNC and to translate those needs into practical designs and implementation plans.
  • Create and enforce database development, implementation and support standards.

The Enterprise Information Platform program is a multi-year multi-million dollar initiative that supports Basel II program, Enterprise Risk Reporting and Enterprise Strategic Information program.

You will participate as a member of the Enterprise Information Platform Architecture team in defining, implementing and supporting projects to achieve Enterprise Data goals and objectives. Interaction with other areas of the bank is an important aspect of this development work and a comfort-level in preparing consistent updates with senior and executive leadership is a major plus.

The position is based in Cleveland Ohio. The candidate should expect limited travel between Cleveland location and Pittsburgh Headquarter.


Your hours will generally conform with those of a regular workweek within the bank. In your role, you will need to draw upon a combination of skills in problem-solving, project management, technology, and developing professional relationships. The following qualifications are typical of the successful candidate:



  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Management, or Management Information Systems. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Ten years of progressive responsibility within a management information systems, or information management, or analysis environment with at least three to five years of advanced data base architecture design and implementation experience. Planning and delivery of integrated systems.
  • Strong database architecture knowledge of large enterprise-wide databases and enterprise data warehouses.
  • Strong banking industry experience
  • BASEL II experience is a plus.
