About the Job:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire an Environmental Director (North America) for a hybrid position based in one of our manufacturing plant locations. This role can be based out of plant locations in: Dallas, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Eugene, Oregon; City of Industry, California; Chatsworth, California; West Jordan, Utah; Minster, Ohio; Mt Crawford, Virginia; Dubois, Pennsylvania; Bridgeton, New Jersey; Jacksonville, Florida. As the Environmental Director for North America, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's environmental initiatives. You will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive environmental strategy, ensuring compliance with regulations while exceeding our social responsibility commitments. Your expertise will drive sustainable practices across our network, contributing to a greener future. This role reports into the Senior Environmental Health and Safety Director and has one direct report and linkage to the network plant environmental leads at the sites.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Environmental Strategy Development:
    • Develop and refine a robust environmental strategy aligned with our corporate goals.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into business operations.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Environmental System Ownership:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our environmental management system.
    • Ensure effective data collection, reporting, and analysis to drive informed decision-making.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to environmental impact.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
    • Stay abreast of environmental regulations and industry best practices.
    • Lead efforts to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
    • Liaise with regulatory agencies and participate in audits as needed.
  • Social Responsibility Commitments:
    • Champion our commitment to sustainability, social equity, and community well-being.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to set ambitious targets for reducing our environmental footprint.
    • Drive initiatives that positively impact local communities and ecosystems.
  • Network Scaling:
    • Leverage your experience to scale environmental practices across our North American network.
    • Collaborate with regional teams to implement standardized processes and share best practices.
    • Foster a culture of environmental stewardship among employees.
    • Network risk assessment process - Gap analysis and CAPA process.

About You:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, business, or a related field and have a minimum of 10 years of related experience, primarily in a manufacturing environment, required. Prior experience within CPG or Food/Beverage manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • You have proven experience in crafting and implementing environmental systems, and have familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA) and industry standards.
  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • You have excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • You have a passion for sustainability and a vision for a greener future.
  • You have the ability to travel 50% of the time or greater, which could include overnight stays through the weekend. The position will be located within one of our manufacturing plants, but travel would be required to our corporate offices or other plant locations, with some global travel possible.
