Education Registrar
The educational vision of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is to provide quality experiences that foster a sense of wonder, share knowledge, and advocate active involvement with wildlife and wild places.
Position Description
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Education Department is seeking creative, enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join their team to staff the Education Registration Desk. The role of this team member is to fulfill the role of a registrar and receptionist at the reception desk of the HCS Education Center. This position's main duties are to register individual and group programs, answer program questions, and direct customers to the best program or department. Registrars also meet the needs of the public visiting the Zoo and the Education Department. To be successful as an Education Registrar, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. You should be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. This position is part-time, seasonal at 15-20 hours/week. Weekend and holiday hours may apply.
Duties
  • Greeting, assisting, and directing all program participants and general zoo visitors in the Education Center Lobby.
  • Handling customer communications and inquiries via phone, email, voicemail, and in person. Up-selling/recommending program opportunities to customers when appropriate.
  • Processing program registrations and payments efficiently and accurately. Invoicing and tracking payments for group programs.
  • Maintaining the orderliness of the Education Building and lobby; liaison to other departments who may use education spaces.
  • Communicating unresolved/impending issues to the next staff member on duty.
Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, and utilize manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard. This job may require walking throughout the day, occasionally on steep terrain,
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including early mornings, evenings & weekends, when needed).
Qualifications
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a high-functioning team are a must.
  • Must be comfortable speaking to individuals on the phone, in-person, and over email in a positive and professional manner.
  • Strongly proficient in Windows-based software and applications is required. Knowledge of Google based apps. Must be able to become a proficient user of Gateway Ticketing and Convergence systems.
  • Experience in a customer service or office environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance.
  • Basic understanding of financial processes (handling cash, checks, invoices) will be valuable to the role.
  • Being adaptable and flexible in responding to changing priorities or unexpected situations.
  • Being able to troubleshoot issues and problem solve.
Position Details
  • This is a part-time seasonal position, from April-August.
Pay Rate
  • $15.00/hr
