SUMMARY

The Regional Controller is an operations focused role which oversees multiple plants and handles the financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and adherence to the company's accounting practices. The position reports to the Commercial Controller and primarily interacts with the Regional Director of Operations, Regional Director of Sales, Plant Managers, and Sales Managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of financial information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the plants assigned.
  • Provides financial analysis to plant managers and sales managers. Reviews and investigates unusual trends and variances. Assists with the preparation and presentation of the quarterly financial and operational results to the Executive Group.
  • Responsible for the financial oversight of the plant's capital budget including evaluating project requests and closing out completed projects in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes metrics of the plant operations to ensure run time and utilization of equipment is being optimized.
  • Responsible for the review and analysis of product margins including cost issues. Sets labor and overhead standards on an annual basis.
  • Ensures the timeliness and accuracy of month end closing.
  • Is the primary contact with plant personnel for any accounting related questions.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the perpetual inventory system including review of unusual adjustments or activities. Reviews and ensures established processes and controls are functioning properly. Evaluates physical inventory results performed on a quarterly basis.
  • Reviews aged inventory and slow-moving inventory, initiates discussions with the plant for proper disposition.
  • Prepares financial forecasts on a monthly basis and the annual budgets for the plants assigned.
  • Performs additional relevant duties as assigned including ad-hoc projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong analytical ability and a hands-on approach.
  • Proven problem solver and decision maker.
  • Maintains a high level of flexibility, a strong sense of urgency and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong technology and computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Travel requirement of up to 25%.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing environment.
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to analyze complex data
