About the Job:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor based in our Minster, Ohio yogurt manufacturing plant to support our night shift maintenance team.

In this role you will be responsible for supervising, developing and training the night shift maintenance mechanics. You will focus on building a reliability-based culture through evolving teamwork, collaboration, and the fundamentals of problem solving. As a member of the maintenance team, you will also be tasked with continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.

Other responsibilities require the ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs., stamina and endurance (e.g., standing, sitting, walking, etc.) for long hours, the willingness to travel stateside & abroad, and the availability to be on-call & work flexible hours (e.g., late nights, weekends, off shift). Preferred work schedule will be Monday - Friday 4pm - 12AM but could require occasional off hour or weekend work as business needs dictate.

Specific Job Duties & Tasks:

This position is responsible for the routine supervision of the hourly maintenance team members. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring compliance of safety & quality policies
  • Managing time, attendance, & discipline policies
  • Assigning and prioritizing maintenance tasks
  • Setting and enforcing quality of work and First Time Right expectations
  • Assessing mechanic skills gaps and developing an improvement plan
  • Ensuring standard process and tools are developed for job specific tasks.
  • Facilitating problem solving activities and discussions
  • Drive continuous and long-term technical downtime reduction through process-oriented management (i.e. Involvement of all people, definition & simplification of process, and the use of structured methods).
  • Provide input and support in all strategic, operational, and policy aspects of the maintenance department: safety, quality, cost, delivery, motivation, and nature.
  • Writing and communicating technical performance reports

This position will also focus on continuous improvement and cost reduction projects. This may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Identifying equipment defect root causes - Mechanical, Electrical, Automation
  • Recommend and implement short and long-term countermeasures.
  • Collaborating with and leveraging hourly workforce to develop and implement solutions.
  • Identifying opportunities and solutions for maintenance spend reduction.
  • Coordinating changes to maintenance strategy (preventive, corrective, improvement) to maximize equipment uptime & minimize costs.

ABOUT YOU: (All are required, except when noted as preferred)

  • At minimum, you have an associate's or technical degree or a combination of educational equivalent and relevant experience, required. A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, food process engineering or engineering technologies is preferred.
  • You have at least 5 years maintenance supervision experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment and can effectively lead a team of technicians in a manufacturing environment.
  • You have experience with the ability to read PLC logic, variable frequency drive, automated controls systems, industrial electricity volts 24volt DC - 480-volt AC. Preferred.
  • You have 3D-CAD experience related to machine design improvements (preferred).
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have the ability to lead and bring closure to open issues.
  • You have the ability to establish and react to changing priorities.
  • You have the ability to influence production unit and support staff.
  • You have the ability to establish and maintain trust of the supervisory group and hourly associates.
  • You have the ability to develop working relationships with safety, production, quality and engineering departments.
  • You have working knowledge and skills in MS Office programs.
  • You have ability to support a 24/7 production environment as business needs dictate. Work schedules could include day or night shift schedules, and occasional weekends as business needs dictate.
